CALL TO ORDER Mayor Pro Tern Dick Faram called the Special City Council Meeting to order at 7:00 p.m. Wednesday, November 28, 1973. ROLL CALL PRESENT: Mayor Pro Tern Councilmen Dick Faram James F. Cato Tom E. Newman Walter Smith JoAnn Goodnight Councilwoman STAFF PRESENT: City Manager City Secretary City Engineer M. E. Riddle Anna Lee Caudry Dick Perkins ABSENT: Mayor Councilmen City Attorney Marion L. Massey Norman Ell is Ll oyd Mc Ki nney Tim Truman APPROVAL OF BIDS Consideration of Bids on Walker Branch Outfall Sewer Line, Job #3-512 Mayor Pro Tern Faram requested City Manager Riddle to inform the Council on the agreement reached with Mr. Loren Howerton, representing the developers of Stoneybrook Addition. City Manager Riddle advised Mr. Howerton had agreed to pay $49,252.71 for the outfall sewer line through Stoneybrook Addition subject to adjustments for quantity differences only, $7,000.00 for the portion of the outfall sewer line between Glenann and Stoneybrook and a 4% inspection fee. Mr. Howerton will be allowed to administer own site work and will pay inspection fee and bond when City Developer Agreement is signed. Mr. Perkins asked the Council to decide which alternates were desired: clay pipe, ABS truss pipe or PVC. Page 2 The alternates were included to give the city an opportunity to compare different pipes. Mr. Fred Valenta and Mr. Bob Morrison, repesentatives of John Mansville Pipe Division, presented the data on the PVC pipe. ADJOURNMENT After discussion, Councilman Newman moved, seconded by Councilwoman Goodnight, to award the Walker Branch Outfall Sewer Line Contract to the low bidder, Crookham and Vessels Inc., in the amount of $541,360.67, using PVC pipe in the alternates. The motion carried by a vote of 4-0. There being no further items on the agenda for consideration, Councilman Cato moved, seconded by Councilman Newman, that the Special City Council Meeting of November 28, 1973, be adjourned.
