HomeMy WebLinkAboutKNRH 2020-08-18 Minutes MINUTES OF THE REGULAR MEETING OF THE KEEP NORTH RICHLAND HILLS BEAUTIFUL COMMISSION FOR THE CITY OF NORTH RICHLAND HILLS,TEXAS, HELD AT THE NORTH RICHLAND HILLS CITY HALL 4301 CITY POINT DRIVE AUGUST 18,2020 The Keep North Richland Hills Beautiful Commission of the City of North Richland Hills, Texas met for an on-line meeting on the 18th day of August, 2020 at 5:45 p.m.from the Neighborhood Services Office. A. CALL TO ORDER Kathy Luppy called the meeting to order at 5:46 p.m. Present: Kathy Luppy Chairperson, Place 6 Amy Hedgecock Place 1 Susan Young Place 3 MiShon Landry Place 4 Donah Tyner Place 5 Brandon Kelley Place 7 Kimberly Johnson Alternate Absent: Amy Steele Place 2 Staff Members: Kristin James, Assistant Director of Neighborhood Services Joyce Fister,Administrative Secretary, Neighborhood Services B. CITIZENS PRESENTATION No presentations. C. PUBLIC COMMENTS No Comments D. ACTION ITEMS D.1 Approve minutes of the February 18,2020 Keep North Richland Hills Beautiful Commission meeting. Minutes of February 18, 2020 meeting were approved as written. D.2 Approve minutes of the July 21,2020 Keep North Richland Hills Beautiful Commission meeting. Minutes of July 21, 2020 meeting were approved as written. D.3 Election of Chair and Vice Chair of the Keep NRH Beautiful Commission. Nomination of Kathy Luppy for Chair was made and seconded,was elected by unanimous vote. Nomination of Amy Steele for Vice Chair was made and seconded, was elected by unanimous vote. E. PRESENTATION/DISCUSSION ITEMS E.1 Recognition of Appointed Members—2,4, 6 and alternate. Recognition of following members: Place 2 Amy Steele Place 4 MiShon Landry Place 6 Kathy Luppy Alternate Kimberly Johnson Page 1 of 2 E.2 Discussion regarding upcoming events and activities. 1. Trash Bash—September 26, 2020 Kristin James advised Commission that the following items had been ordered and will be distributed: Masks,gloves,T-shirts&grabbers with the KNRHB Logo on them. She is still working on the design for the t-shirts,which will be bright orange this year. Items will be picked up by the volunteers at City Hall as a "drive thru" event at 7:30 am. The following commission members volunteered to help: Brandon Kelley Susan Young MiShon Landry Kimberly Johnson Donah Tyner Amy Hedgecock Dumpsters will be placed at Dan Echols and Green Valley park for the disposal of items collected. 2. Fix It Blitz—October 24, 2020 Commission members will be needed to visit project sights to check on progress and see if any supplies are needed as well as take photos. Further details will be discussed at the next KNRHB meeting. 3. Community Clean-up—October 24, 2020 Kristin James advised that details have not yet been finalized. There will be shredding. It is possible that instead of having bulk drop off, as in the past,there will be an extra bulk pick up by Republic Trash. Possibly, Second Glance will be there to collect clothing and other items. 4. Litter Index Survey Kristin James advised that she has listed 60 streets and that the City's GIS is making a map of those streets. It was suggested that the actual Index will be conducted by the City's Code Compliance Officers because they are out in those areas frequently.The Commission agreed with this suggestion. 5. Texas Trees Seminar and Tree Giveaway—November 14, 2020 Suggestions of types of trees to be given away were: Chinese Pistache Hybrid Poplar Desert Willow Kristin will talk to the City's arborist to get his suggestions. Plans to order trees in early October. E.3 Discuss ideas for future virtual events. Ideas for Spring events will be discussed at a future meeting. F.
