HomeMy WebLinkAboutKNRH 2020-09-15 Minutes MINUTES OF THE REGULAR MEETING OF THE KEEP NORTH RICHLAND HILLS BEAUTIFUL COMMISSION FOR THE CITY OF NORTH RICHLAND HILLS,TEXAS, HELD AT THE North Richland Hills CITY HALL 4301 CITY POINT DRIVE SEPTEMBER 15,2020 The Keep North Richland Hills Beautiful Commission of the City of North Richland Hills, Texas met for an on-line meeting on the 15th day of September, 2020 at 5:45 p.m.from the Neighborhood Services Office. A. CALL TO ORDER Kathy Luppy called the meeting to order at 5:46 p.m. Present: Kathy Luppy Chairperson, Place 6 Amy Hedgecock Place 1 Susan Young Place 3 Donah Tyner Place 5 Brandon Kelley Place 7 Kimberly Johnson Alternate Absent: Amy Steele Place 2 MiShon Landry Place 4 Staff Members: Kristin James,Assistant Director of Neighborhood Services Joyce Fister,Administrative Secretary, Neighborhood Services B. CITIZENS PRESENTATION No presentations. C. PUBLIC COMMENTS No Comments D. ACTION ITEMS D.1 Approve minutes of the August 18,2020 Keep North Richland Hills Beautiful Commission meeting. Minutes of August 18, 2020 meeting were approved as written. E. PRESENTATION/DISCUSSION ITEMS E.1 Discuss Results of the Litter Index Kristin James advised the Commission that she gave the Code Enforcement Officers a packet, using the Police Dept. districts,to perform the Litter Index. Each Commission member was supplied with a copy of the results. Kristin explained the scoring and identified the problem areas. Construction areas are the worst areas. Overall,the Survey was better than the one done in 2018. These areas will be added to the list to be addressed with the upcoming Trash Bash. The report has been submitted to Keep America Beautiful. It was decided that the process of using the Code Enforcement Officers would be used in future surveys,which will be done prior to the Trash Bash. Page 1 of 2 E.2 Discuss Adopt-a-Spot Program Kristin James advised she had performed an inventory of the Adopt-a-Spot Signs and the various locations in the City. The cost to replace the signs is$50 each. Kristin will reach out to all of the groups that have been inactive and currently have areas to see if they want to continue. If there is no response,they will be removed from the list and the sign will be posted as available. Motion was made to replace the signs as needed and was approved unanimously. E.3 Discussion of Up-Coming Events 1. Trash Bash—September 26, 2020 Kristin James advised Commission that 115 people have volunteered to participate in the Trash Bash. Some of them are: St.John's-2 groups NRHBC—small group NRHPD—14 people from D Shift 3 Boy Scout Troops Others are individual volunteers There will be a drive-thru for the pick-up of supplies at City Hall, on the PD side. Commission volunteers should be at City Hall at 7:30 am. Pick-up will be from 8:00—9:00 am. Dumpsters are being delivered to Dan Echols and Green Valley Park for volunteers to dispose of trash. 2. Fix It Blitz—October 24, 2020 Commission members will be needed to visit project sights to check on progress and see if any supplies are needed as well as take photos and thank volunteers for participating. There will probably be another event in the Spring of 2021. 3. Community Clean-up—October 24, 2020 The event will be held at Tarrant County Community College parking lot. This is informational only. 4. Texas Trees Seminar and Tree Giveaway—November 14, 2020 More information on this event will be available at the October KNRHB meeting. 5. Rain Barrel Class The commission discussed helping with the cost of the rain barrels for the class. The barrels are $25/ea. with a max of 50 people in the class. The class will be virtual then the participants will be able to pick up supplies at designated locations afterward. While anyone can take the class online, only residents of N. Richland Hills will be able to obtain the supplies. Brandon suggested waiting until after January 15t to hold the class. All Commission members agreed.
