HomeMy WebLinkAboutResolution 2021-015RESOLUTION NO. 2021-015 A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF NORTH RICHLAND HILLS, TEXAS, AUTHORIZING SUBMISSION OF AN APPLICATION AND ACCEPTANCE OF ALLOCATED FUNDS IF AWARDED FOR THE 2021 STATE HOMELAND SECURITY PROGRAM LAW ENFORCEMENT TERRORISM PREVENTION ACTIVITIES PROGRAM FOR NORTHEAST EXPLOSIVE RESPONSE TEAM (NERT), GRANT # 4257101. WHEREAS, The City of North Richland Hills, Texas possesses legal authority to apply for the 2021 State Homeland Security Program (SHSP) Law Enforcement Terrorism Prevention Activities (LETPA) Program to establish a rotation of EOD bomb suits in order to maintain response capabilities and ensure that NERT has the necessary amount of certified and un-expired EOD bomb suits to effectively respond to dynamic situations; and WHEREAS, The City Council of North Richland Hills finds it in the best interest of the citizens of North Richland Hills to acquire an additional certified bomb suit to better respond to emergencies and protect the lives of the response personnel. NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF NORTH RICHLAND HILLS, TEXAS, THAT: SECTION 1. The City Council of North Richland Hills hereby finds that the recitals set forth above are true and correct and are incorporated into this Resolution as if written herein. SECTION 2. The City Council of North Richland Hills hereby authorizes and approves the submission of application for the 2021 State Homeland Security Program (SHSP) Law Enforcement Terrorism Prevention Activities (LETPA) Program Grant #4257101, and makes appointments for the conduct of business relative to the grant. SECTION 3. The City Council of North Richland Hills designates Fire Chief Stan Tinney as the grantee's authorized official, with the power to apply for, accept, reject, alter or terminate the funding request on behalf of the applicant agency. SECTION 4. The City Council of North Richland Hills agrees that the loss or misuse of SHSP funds or failure to comply with all SHSP award requirements may result in suspension or termination of award funds, the repayment of award funds, and/or other remedies available by law. SECTION 5. This Resolution shall take effect and be in full force and effect from and after the date of its adoption, and it is so resolved; and all Resolutions of the City Council in conflict herewith are hereby amended or repealed to the extent of such conflict.
