Minutes of the Gauncil !<ie3tin:; 6 January 19St':
Meeting was called to order at 7:36 p.lli. Those present
v,ere: ~.;ayor Nace; :Jouncilrr:en :v'ood, Futnalli, Kutilek, and lranklin.
Minutes of the previous meetin~ were read and approved.
A speed ordinance for the city was read and referred to
the city attorney for a final dr~ft.
A resolution to the County Highway Commissioner concerning
the acquisition of qishway ~istt~0f~~3.Y between the western and
the central portions of the city was read. Mr. Wood moved to
pass the resolution as corrected. I·lotion was seconded and unani-
mously passed.
~n ordinance was read chaniins the name of Stevens Street
to Redondo Street. Kuti lek moved to adort the ordina.nce as
read. Motion seconded and unanimously passed.
It was request~d that the Oouncil have stop signs erected
at the intersection of Blaney and Holiday Lane. ~r. Wood moved
to cont'-ict the County Hig;hway Commissioner to h'w8 4-way stop
signs installed at this intersection. Kotion was seconded and
unanimously passed.
A discussion was held concerning the employment of a city
secretary, the duties of such a secretary, lnd the need of a
central city office for the administration of city business.
Several citizens living on Ken hichael Court complained
about the condition in which their street has been left.
Mayor Nace is to contact Earl Johnson again concerning this
matter. The extension of Deville Drive to Ken Michael Gourt
was also 1uestioned and Mr. Daley will be contacted to determine
the status of' this rro ject.

Mr. Scro~gins addressed the Council concerning a police
departmeritand taxes.

Mayor Nace reviewed our investigation into the cost of a
police derartment. A discussion of a mailed poll .Y2.. a referendum
vote in April to determine public opinion on a property assessment
concluded that an early mailed poll would be the fairest method
of ascertainment. Messrs. Franklin and Kutilek are to determine
the wordin~ of the poll.
Ohanges in the new zoning ordinance were reviewed. Mr. Wood
moved to adopt the ordinance as read and amended. Motion seconded
and unanimously passed.
Meeting was adjourned at 11:45 p.m. ~
