HomeMy WebLinkAboutKNRH 2022-05-17 MinutesMINUTES OF THE REGULAR MEETING OF THE KEEP NORTH RICHLAND HILLS BEAUTIFUL COMMISSION FOR THE CITY OF NORTH RICHLAND HILLS, TEXAS, HELD AT THE NORTH RICHLAND HILLS CITY HALL 4301 CITY POINT DRIVE MAY 17, 2022 The Keep North Richland Hills Beautiful Commission of the City of North Richland Hills, Texas met for a meeting on the 17th day of May, 2022 at 5:45 p.m. in the Community Room at City Hall. A. CALL TO ORDER Kathy Luppy called the meeting to order at 5:47 p.m. Present: Kathy Luppy Chair Kay Dansby Place 1 Brianne Goetz Place 3 Brandon Kelley Place 7 Absent: MiShon Landry Place 4 Donah Tyner Place 5 Kim Johnson Alternate Staff Members: Kristin James, Assistant Director of Neighborhood Services Joyce Fister, Administrative Assistant of Neighborhood Services B.1 CITIZENS PRESENTATION No presentations. B.2 PUBLIC COMMENTS No Comments C. ACTION ITEMS C.1 Approve minutes of the April 19, 2022 Keep North Richland Hills Beautiful Commission meeting. Minutes were approved unanimously with no corrections. D. PRESENTATION/DISCUSSION ITEMS D.1 Presentation on the Code Compliance Division of Neighborhood Services Kristin James gave an overview of the Neighborhood Services Department, the processes that are followed and the top code violations that are reported. She advised the members that if they found any code violations, they could report them to her for investigation. D.2 Discuss the New Programs for Schools • Kristin James advised Commission that the scholarship program should be approved in the new budget, which begins 10/1/22. • Ms. James brought up idea of creating new logo for KNRHB. She will talk to the Cultural Arts Coordinator for ideas. • PTA Grants — Members recommended 4 or 5 grants of approximately $500 each. Ms. James will look at the budget and report at next meeting. She will begin working on the application. Page 1 of 3 • School Programs — Members would like to create a program for 2"d graders at each BISD elementary school, which will focus on environmental stewardship. Goal is to have program in place by March, 2023. Ideas were to have program outdoors with maybe 4 stations with activities. Commission members were asked to bring ideas for activities to next meeting, such as water conservation, recycling, pollution, energy consumption, etc. D.3 Discuss Classes and Schedule for 2022 • Members were given a calendar of remaining events for 2022. • Members were asked for any suggestions for a theme for the photo contest to be sent to Ms. James via email. • Ms. James advised the commission that new appointments for members will be made in June, so all positions should be filled by July meeting.
