HomeMy WebLinkAboutKNRH 2022-02-15 MinutesMINUTES OF THE REGULAR MEETING OF THE KEEP NORTH RICHLAND HILLS BEAUTIFUL COMMISSION FOR THE CITY OF NORTH RICHLAND HILLS, TEXAS, HELD AT THE NORTH RICHLAND HILLS CITY HALL 4301 CITY POINT DRIVE FEBRUARY 15, 2022 The Keep North Richland Hills Beautiful Commission of the City of North Richland Hills, Texas met for a meeting on the 15th day of February, 2022 at 5:45 p.m. in the Community Room at City Hall. A. CALL TO ORDER Kathy Luppy called the meeting to order at 5:51 p.m. Present: Kay Dansby Place 1 Brianne Goetz Place 3 Donah Tyner Place 5 Brandon Kelly Place 7 Absent: Kathy Luppy Chair MiShon Landry Place 4 Kim Johnson Alternate Staff Members: Kristin James, Assistant Director of Neighborhood Services B.1 CITIZENS PRESENTATION No presentations. B.2 PUBLIC COMMENTS No Comments C. ACTION ITEMS CA Approve minutes of the February 15, 2022 Keep North Richland Hills Beautiful Commission meeting. Minutes were approved unanimously with no corrections. D. PRESENTATION/DISCUSSION ITEMS D.1 Discuss the Creation of a Keep NRH Beautiful Scholarship Kristin James advised the members of the Commission that the legal department recommended holding off on the scholarship until next fiscal year, so that it could be correctly budgeted in the 2023 Fiscal Year Budget. Mrs. James reported that the budget had been submitted for staff review with the newly created scholarship included. The new fiscal year starts October 1, 2023 and the budget should be approved toward the end of the summer. D.2 Keep Texas Beautiful Program Updates Mrs. James announced that KNRHB had received the Gold Star Affiliate Status from Keep Texas Beautiful again this year. KNRHB also received 2"d place in the Governor's Community Achievement Award program. Mrs. James also Page 1 of 4 D.3 Discuss Classes and Schedule for 2022 It was decided by the Commission that the March meeting would be canceled as it is during Spring Break and several would not be able to attend. Kristin advised the members that the Gardening seminar that was held on 2/12/22 was a great success, with as many as 70-80 people in attendance. She distributed a Calendar of Events through December, 2022, copy of which is attached. Kristin has scheduled a rain barrel class for 4/30/22 to be held at Northfield Park in the Barfield Pavilion. The KTB Conference is scheduled for 6/27-6/29/22 and Kristin advised members that if anyone is interested in attending she needs to know within the next couple of weeks in order to register in time. The Commission will pay for registration, hotel and mileage, but each is responsible for transportation. If the Commission is awarded the GCAA this year, the Awards Dinner is being held on the final night, 6/29/22. Kristin also suggested having a class on canning foods, to be taught by the same speaker at the Gardening seminar. The facility would need to have a demonstration kitchen so Kristin will check with the Birdville School District about using one of the culinary class room at BCTAL. F.
