HomeMy WebLinkAboutCC 1960-10-17 Minutes 7 SPECIAL COUNCIL MEETING, OCTOBER 17, 1960 '--- The City Council of North Richland Hills held a special Council meeting October 17, 1960 in the North Richland Elementary School Auditorium. Mayor Zellers called the meeting to order at 7:40 P.M. with Councilmen, Graner, Bell, Johns~ Campbell and Owens present. There were approximately 200 guests present. Reverend Ted Spencer~ Minister of the Davis Memorial Methodist Church gave the Invocation. Mayor Zellers introduced the Councilmen and city employees and then a Resolution appointing officials to serve as Judges and Clerks at the election on October 25~ 1960 was explained and the names read after which Mr. Bell moved to adopt and Mr. Campbell seconded and motion carried. ~ ~,¿¿~,.......---.. Mayors Zellers then outlined the bond proposals and asked Mr. Knowl- ton to point out on the map and explain what work would be done under the street and drainage issue. Mr. Keller then explained the tax rate after which the Mayor opened the meeting for discussion and questions. Mr. Paul Harmon, Mr. Jim Norman stressed their support for the bond issue and their confidence in the Council. John Hay, Mr. Ownes, Mr. Slate, Fred Ross~ Goucher, McConnel~ Parchamn~ H. C. Allison, Jack Smith, Bill Mayfield, Floyd Benson, Mr. English, Wayne Goodman, Mrs. ,- Ballenger all spoke Pro & Con with Mr. Keller and Mr. Knowlton going into detail endeavoring to clearify the tax and work to be done. Mr. Baker, Mr. McFarland, Mr. Nace, Mr. Dòrris, John Easley, Mr. Goodnight, Mr. Predock, Mrs. Kelly, Joe Haney, Col. Anderson, Mr. Wynn, Mr. French, Mrs. J. C. Jones, Mr. Worthington, Mr. Campbell as well as several others who did not give th.ir names asked questionø and made statements For and Against the bond issue with Col. Ander- eon stating he wanted to go on record as expressing his complete and full agreement to the bond issue and to the Council and thanked the Council for holding all of the extra meetings in order to bring and explain this problem to the people.
