MINUTES OF THE SPECIAL
MEETING OF THE CITY COUNCIL,
NORTH RICHLAND HILLS, TEXAS,
HELD AT 7:)0 P.M. CITY
OFFICES, MONDAY, MAY 29, 1961.
CALL TO ORDER AND ROLL CALL:
P~esent: Mayor Hunter; Councilmen JohnA, White, Campbell, Bell and
Terrell.
Administrative Staff Present: City Attorney, Inspector, Electrical
Inspector and City Secretary.
INVOCATION: Councilman Campbell.
The purpose of the special meeting was to study the contract for the
purchase of the Civic Building.
1. CONTRACT TO BE REDRAWN - EXECUTED BY MAYOR.
Lengthy discussion brought out fact that contract should not include
proviso for a certain group to use the building. Council stated a
policy for use of the building be drawn up and that no strings be
att~ched in the contract. Discussion of possible purchase of ad-
joining lot to Civic Building favored its being looked into as to
cost. After further discussion it was decided that Mr. Goodnight re-
draw contract to include the phrase "Title POlicylt and also Itthat the
City take possession upon execution of agreement". Mr. Bell moved that
the contract of sale be drawn by Mayor and Mayor Pro Tern and executed
by the Mayor no later than June )rd. Mr. White seconded and motion
carried 5-0.
2. CO~rnITTEE - ALTERATIONS & IMPROVEMENTS TO BUILDING.
Mr. Campbell moved for a committee to be formed to start study on the
alterations and improvements to be made to building if and when con-
tract is signed, such committee to include Council members and all
departmental heads. Mr. Terrell seconded and motion carried 5-0.
Informal d iSCUBS ion followed and the Mayor told of Mr. Diclc Lewis I B
wish to clean off lot next to Fire Department in Smithfield and then
gravel it. The Council gave unenimous apPl"oval to this project and
will officially approve at the next regular Council meeting.
ADJOURNMENT:
Mr. Bell moved to adjourn at 8:35 with Mr. Johns seconding and motion
carried 5-0.
