CALL TO ORDER
Chair Don Tipps called the meeting to order on September 22, 2022 at 6:00 pm.
CITIZEN PRESENTATION/PUBLIC COMMENTS
There were no public comments at this meeting.
APPROVAL OF MINUTES
Mr. Sorenson moved to accept the minutes, Ms. Mitchell seconded, and the minutes were
unanimously approved.
NEW LIBRARY BOARD MEMBER INTRODUCTION
Ms. Margaret Nilz introduced herself and met the other Library board members, Friends of
the Library members, and Library staff.

�1 FRIENDS OF THE LIBRARY INTRODUCTION
Friends of the Library board members Allison Mull, Julie Brooks, Tammy Byrket, and Gail Le
Breton introduced themselves to everyone. They talked about the Friends role in partnering
with the Library to promote the Library and its events/programs, and engaging the
community.
LIBRARY DIRECTOR'S REPORTS
Ms. Barham reviewed the Library's key indicators stats from June -August 2022 and
answered questions.
2022 MAYOR SUMMER READING
Ms. Barham shared a report containing the highlights and survey feedback from this year's
successful Summer Reading.
LIBRARY PAINTING
Ms. Barham informed that the Library will be painted between this Thanksgiving and New
Year holidays. Friends of the Library is covering the cost of a mural in the Children's
department that could not fit in the budget.
REPORT ON PROGRAMS AND EVENTS
Ms. Barham reported on past Library events including:
• Behind the Book Author event with Candice Millard on 6/14: 107 people attended.
• Melodies & Motion: new program for toddlers on Mondays, 63 people participated on
the first day.
• Books+Brews: new non-fiction book club that meets every month in various locations,
7 people attended the last meeting on 9/19.
• Celebrating Culture series with loni Creek Bluegrass group performance on 9/17: 120
people attended.
And upcoming Library events including:
• Mid -Cities Teen Book Fest on 10/15 from 10:00am-5:00pm.
• Behind the Book Author event with Nelson DeMille on 10/27 at 1:00pm
GENERAL INFORMATION
PERSONNEL UPDATE
Sara Olmos-Rodriguez was promoted to the vacant Librarian position in the Adult Services
department. Circulation and Adult Services departments are interviewing candidates for two
part time Library Associate positions.
NEXT MEETING DATE
The next meeting will be held on October 20, 2022 at 6:00 pm.
