HomeMy WebLinkAboutKNRH 2022-10-18 Minutes - MINUTES OF THE REGULAR MEETING OF THE KEEP NORTH RICHLAND HILLS BEAUTIFUL COMMISSION FOR THE CITY OF NORTH RICHLAND HILLS,TEXAS, HELD AT THE NORTH RICHLAND HILLS CITY HALL 4301 CITY POINT DRIVE OCTOBER 18,2022 The Keep North Richland Hills Beautiful Commission of the City of North Richland Hills, Texas met for a meeting on the 18th day of October 2022 at 5:45 p.m. in the Neighborhood Services Conference Room at City Hall. A. CALL TO ORDER Kathy Luppy called the meeting to order at 5:49 p.m. Present: Kathy Luppy Chair Kay Dansby Place 1 Steve Chaney Place 2 Brianne Goetz Place 3 Donah Tyner Place 5 Brandon Kelley Place 7 Steve Linford Alternate Absent: Kathleen Kaiser Place 4 Staff Members: Kristin James,Assistant Director of Neighborhood Services B. DISCUSSION ITEMS B.1 CITIZEN PRESENTATION No citizens present at the meeting. B.2 PUPLIC COMMENT No citizens present for Public Comment. C. ACTION ITEMS C.1 Approve Minutes of the September 20, 2022 Keep NRH Beautiful Meeting Donah Tyner motioned to approve the minutes and Brandon Kelley seconded the motion. The Commission then approved the minutes from the September 20, 2022 meeting unanimously. D PRESENTATION/DISCUSSION ITEMS D.1 Discuss the 2022 Trash Bash The Keep NRH Beautiful Commission's 2022 Trash Bash Litter Cleanup was held Saturday, October 1, 2022. Kristin James presented the following results from the event- - 115 volunteers helped with the event and worked approximately 230 hours cleaning the city. - 36 miles of road and trails were cleaned during the event. Major roadways included portions of Rufe Snow, Davis Boulevard,and Iron Horse Boulevard. - 107 bags of trash were collected by the volunteers.Approximately one ton of trach was collected. D.2 Judge the Jump Start Your Garden Grant Program Applications Page 1 of 2 -.k A Applications for the Jump Start Your Garden Schools Grant were submitted by the following schools: - Birdville High School - Green Valley Elementary School - Fort Worth Christian School - Richland High School - Snow Heights Elementary School - St.John the Apostle Catholic School Commission members took time to read over each application and moved to approve the award of the grant to Richland High School, Snow Heights Elementary School, and St. John the Apostle Catholic School. Each school will be awarded $500 in grant funds to complete their projects by April 2023. The commission also offered to personally help with the projects if needed. D.3 Discuss the KNRHB School Programming Mrs. James presented a few school events that the Commission has the opportunity to participate in, including the Foster Village Halloween Carnival and the Snow Heights School Carnival. The commission will host a booth at both events that will help educate students on recycling. Mrs.James also presented information about opportunities in the spring in schools such as art days and other school carnivals. The Commission was very interested in expanding this new way of participation with the schools. D.4 Discuss Remaining Classes and Schedule for 2022 The following is the remaining schedule for the year— " November 3—Texas Trees Virtual Class @ 6:00 pm • November 4—NRH Arbor Day Celebration KNRHB Meeting—Tuesday,November 15 @ 5:45 pm Christmas Light Judging—Sunday, December 11 NO DECEMBER MEETING F.
