HomeMy WebLinkAboutKNRH 2023-01-17 Minutes MINUTES OF THE REGULAR MEETING OF THE KEEP NORTH RICHLAND HILLS BEAUTIFUL COMMISSION FOR THE CITY OF NORTH RICHLAND HILLS,TEXAS, HELD AT THE NORTH RICHLAND HILLS CITY HALL 4301 CITY POINT DRIVE JANUARY 17,2023 The Keep North Richland Hills Beautiful Commission of the City of North Richland Hills, Texas met for a meeting on the 17th day of January 2023 at 5:45 p.m.in the Community Room at City Hall. A. CALL TO ORDER Kathy Luppy called the meeting to order at 5:49 p.m. Present: Kathy Luppy Chair Kay Dansby Place 1 Steve Chaney Place 2 Brianne Goetz Place 3 Kathleen Kaiser Place 4 Donah Tyner Place 5 Steve Linford Alternate Absent: Brandon Kelley Place 7 Staff Members: Kristin James,Assistant Director of Neighborhood Services B. DISCUSSION ITEMS B.1 CITIZEN PRESENTATION No citizens present at the meeting. B.2 PUPLIC COMMENT No citizens present for Public Comment. C. ACTION ITEMS C.1 Approve Minutes of the September 20, 2022 Keep NRH Beautiful Meeting These had already been approved by the Commission at a previous meeting, so there was not action taken. C.2 Approve Minutes of the December 11, 2022 Keep NRH Beautiful Meeting Brianne Goetz motioned to approve the minutes and the motion was seconded by Kay Dansby. The Commission then approved the minutes unanimously. D PRESENTATION/DISCUSSION ITEMS D.1 Discuss Governor's Community Achievement Award Application Mrs. Kristin James stated that the Governor's Community Achievement Award is an annual award provided by the State of Texas to communities that go above and beyond in educating the public on being good environmental stewards and enacting programs that beautify their community. Each year the Keep NRH Beautiful Commission applies for the program on behalf of North Richland Hills.This year's application is due February 17, 2023. Mrs. James has been working on the application and will be Page 1 of 3 sending it out to the commission for review before submitting it to Keep Texas Beautiful who manages the grant for the state.She asked that the commission members please be on the lookout for the email she sends with the application and to let her know if there are any changes they see necessary. D.2 Discuss Winter School Programs Keep NRH Beautiful has volunteered to participate in activities at both North Ridge Elementary School and Green Valley Elementary School. During this item, members discussed logistics of the events where they will be providing kids the opportunity to make homemade chia pets,paint rocks,and make bird feeders.
