PRESENTER: Cecilia Barham, Library Director SUMMARY: The minutes listed are approved by majority vote of the Library Board members at Library Board meetings. GENERAL DESCRIPTION: The Library office prepares action minutes for each Library Board meeting. The minutes for the previous meeting are placed on the agenda for review and approval by the Library Board. Upon approval of the minutes, an electronic copy will be uploaded to the City's website. RECOMMENDATION: Approve minutes of the February 23, 2023 Library Board meeting. PUBLIC COMMENTS There were no public comments in this meeting. APPROVAL OF MINUTES Ms. Donahoo moved to accept the minutes, Ms. Antropik seconded, and the minutes were unanimously approved. LIBRARY STAFF INTRODUCTION Ms. Barham introduced Mary Williams, Acquisitions Clerk, and Ha Thai, Library Clerk in the Technical Services department, who briefly talked about their roles in the Library and answered questions from the board. LIBRARY DIRECTOR'S REPORTS Ms. Barham reviewed the Library's statistics from January 2023 and answered questions. NON-RESIDENT DIGITAL CARDS Ms. Barham shared that non-NRH residents digital cardholders were impacting holds times for digital content, causing a longer hold list. Since 2/21 the Library is no longer issuing digital cards to non-residents and current ones have until 5/17 to get a physical library card to continuing have access. The Library will send notices on 4/1, 5/1, 5/15, and 5/17 alerting patrons of this change. FRIENDS OF THE LIBRARY FUNRAISING ACTIVITIES Ms. Barham informed that the Friends of The Library Pop-up Book Sale on 2/21 raised over $2,500, and their next fundraiser event will be on 4/15. REPORT ON PROGRAMS AND EVENTS Ms. Barham reported on upcoming Library events including: • Behind the Book author event with CJ Box on 2/28 at 1:OOpm. • Celebrating Culture series with Reel Treble performance on 3/13 at 6:OOpm. GENERAL INFORMATION PERSONNEL UPDATE Laramie Knox is the new part time Library Associate in the Circulation department. Liz Brockman is retiring on 3/1 . NEXT MEETING DATE The next meeting will be held on March 30, 2023 at 6.00 pm. ADJOURNMENT Meeting adjourned at 6.48 pm. Study and Collaboration Room Policy Adopted November 15, 2018; Revised July 22, 2021; Revised March 30, 2022 Statement of Purpose The North Richland Hills Library has six study rooms and two collaboration rooms available as a shared resource allowing equitable access to ibrary users. The North Richland Hills Library Patron Behavior Policy applies at all times to library users in the 4udy rooms. Use of 4udy rooms does not constitute the Library or the City of North Richland Hills' endorsement or approval of the purpose of use. Priority for Use of Rooms Priority for the use of the 4u4y rooms shall be the following: 1. Library events and classes or programs in which the Library is a sponsor, participant, or cooperative agency 2. City Departments 3. Library users with reservations 4. l...ltrr~ary users without reservations The Director of Library Services and Adult Services Department reserve the right to modify or cancel reservations at any time based on Library and community priority or needs. If possible, Library staff will attempt to give advance notice in the event a study room reservation needs to be canceled, rescheduled, or moved. Collaboration rooms must have a minimum of four (4) people. To reserve a collaboration room, please call the Reference desk at 8,17-427-6814 or email . Reservations must be made a minimum of 24 hours in advance. 7. Cleanup must be included in the reservation time. If applicable, users must return the study rooms to their original arrangement and return all borrowed materials or resources to the Reference or Circulation desks. 8. Food and covered drinks are allowed in the study rooms. 9. Users are responsible for any damages made tO the 4u4y room. Any damages tO the 4e�' room facilities or their contents will be charged to the user or their guardian if the user is a minor. The charges will be based on the cost of cleaning products, supplies, and services required to repair the damages.
