PUBLIC COMMENTS An opportunity for citizens to address the Library Board on matters which are scheduled on this agenda for consideration by the Library Board, but not scheduled as a public hearing. In order to address the Library Board during public comments, a Public Meeting Appearance Card must be completed and presented to the recording secretary prior to the start of the Library Board meeting. PRESENTER: Cecilia Barham, Library Director SUMMARY: The minutes listed are approved by majority vote of the Library Board members at Library Board meetings. GENERAL DESCRIPTION: The Library office prepares action minutes for each Library Board meeting. The minutes for the previous meeting are placed on the agenda for review and approval by the Library Board. Upon approval of the minutes, an electronic copy will be uploaded to the City's website. RECOMMENDATION: Approve minutes of the May 25, 2023 Library Board meeting. PUBLIC COMMENTS There were no public comments in this meeting. APPROVAL OF MINUTES Ms. Traywick moved to accept the minutes, Ms. Donahoo and Ms. Robbins seconded, and the minutes were unanimously approved. COPYRIGHT POLICY Ms. Barham presented the Copyright policy to the board members for consideration and asked for approval. Ms. Donahoo motioned, Ms. Mitchell seconded and the policy was unanimously approved. LIBRARY STAFF INTRODUCTION Ms. Barham introduced Supervisor Silvia Cordell and Library Associate Heather Marshall, both in the Technical Services department, who briefly talked about their roles and answered questions from the board. LIBRARY DIRECTOR'S REPORTS Ms. Barham reviewed the Library's statistics from April 2023 and answered questions. REPORT ON PROGRAMS AND EVENTS Ms. Barham reported on past Library events: • Sounds of Spring outreach on 4/21: 109 people stopped by the library's booth. • Free Comic Book Day on 5/6: 324 people attended. And upcoming Library events including: • Mayor's Summer Reading Club in June and July: 114 programs/events for all ages are scheduled GENERAL INFORMATION PERSONNEL UPDATE Ugandria Womack and Aly Jones started on 5/22 as new Library Associates. The Circulation department reinstated their volunteer program last month. NEXT MEETING DATE The next meeting will be held on September 14, 2023 at 6.00 pm. ADJOURNMENT Meeting adjourned at 7.01 pm.
