PRESENTER: Kristin James, Assistant Director of Neighborhood Services SUMMARY: The minutes are listed on the consent agenda and approved by majority vote of Commission at the Keep NRH Beautiful Commission meetings. GENERAL DESCRIPTION: The Neighborhood Services Department prepares action minutes for each Keep NRH Beautiful meeting. The minutes for the previous meeting are placed on the agenda for review and approval by the Keep NRH Beautiful Commission. Upon approval of the minutes, an electronic copy will be uploaded to the City's website. RECOMMENDATION: Approve the minutes of the July 18, 2023 Keep NRH Beautiful meeting. MINUTES OF THE REGULAR MEETING OF THE KEEP NORTH RICHLAND HILLS BEAUTIFUL COMMISSION FOR THE CITY OF NORTH RICHLAND HILLS, TEXAS, HELD AT THE NORTH RICHLAND HILLS CITY HALL 4301 CITY POINT DRIVE J U LY 18, 2023 The Keep North Richland Hills Beautiful Commission of the City of North Richland Hills, Texas met for a meeting on the 18t" day of July 2023 at 5.45 p.m. in the Community Room at City Hall. A. CALL TO ORDER Kathy Luppy called the meeting to order at 5.49 p.m. Present: Kathy Luppy Chair Steve Chaney Place 2 Brianne Goetz Place 3 Kathleen Kaiser Place 4 Turquoise Banks Place 5 Bill Whitsett Place 7 Steve Linford Alternate Absent: None Staff Members: Kristin James, Assistant Director of Neighborhood Services B.1 PUPLIC COMMENT No citizens present for Public Comment. C. ACTION ITEMS CA Approve minutes of the May 16, 2023 Keep NRH Beautiful Meeting. Brianne Goetz motioned to approve the minutes and the motion was seconded by Steve Chaney. The Commission then approved the minutes unanimously. C.2 Appoint a Chairperson and Vice Chairperson of the Keep NRH Beautiful Commission Brianne Goetz nominated Kathy Luppy as Chairperson and Steve Chaney as Vice Chairperson. Kathleen Kaiser seconded the motion, and the commission approved the appointments unanimously. D. PRESENTATION/DISCUSSION ITEMS Page 1 of 2 DA Welcome New Members to Keep NRH Beautiful Commission Each member introduced themselves and stated their name, how long they have been a member of the commission and shared a little bit of their background. Kristin James gave a short presentation about he Commission that included KNRHB's goals, programs, and affiliations. D.2 Discuss Classes and Schedule for 2023 Mrs. James presented the calendar for 2023: Virtual — Tough Texas Lawn Care — July 20 @ 6 pm Growing Time Kids Class — July 29 @ 10.30 am at the Library — Bill Whitsett, Kathy Luppy, and Kathleen Kaiser stated that they would be at this event. KNRHB Meeting — NO AUGUST MEETING Community Garden Fall Gardening Seminar—August 12 — Turquoise Banks stated that she would be able to attend this event. Virtual — Gardening for Birds —August 24 @ 6pm KNRHB Meeting — Tuesday, September 19 @ 5.45 PM Trash Bash — Saturday, September 23 KNRHB Meeting — Tuesday, October 17 @ 5.45 PM Virtual — Backyard Greenhouse — October 19 @ 6 pm KNRHB Meeting — NO NOVEMBER MEETING UNLESS ABSOLUTELY NEEDED Virtual — Trees for North Texas — November 2 @ 6 pm Christmas Light Judging — December 10 & 11 Virtual — Landscape Design Basics — December 14 @ 6 pm Additional classes will be added to this calendar throughout the year. Kathy Luppy asked to include an item on the next agenda to discuss a school assembly and Bill Whitsett asked to include an item about flag recycling. This item is to provide information regarding registrations, as well as discuss the logistics of the event. GENERAL DESCRIPTION: This item allows for the discussion of the commission's current school programs, as well as ideas for ways the commission can get more involved in environmental education within NRH schools.
