GENERAL DESCRIPTION: The Neighborhood Services Department prepares action minutes for each Keep NRH Beautiful meeting. The minutes for the previous meeting are placed on the agenda for review and approval by the Keep NRH Beautiful Commission. Upon approval of the minutes, an electronic copy will be uploaded to the City's website. RECOMMENDATION: Approve the minutes of the June 18, 2024 Keep NRH Beautiful meeting. MINUTES OF THE REGULAR MEETING OF THE KEEP NORTH RICHLAND HILLS BEAUTIFUL COMMISSION FOR THE CITY OF NORTH RICHLAND HILLS, TEXAS, HELD AT THE NORTH RICHLAND HILLS CITY HALL 4301 CITY POINT DRIVE TUESDAY, JUNE 18, 2024 The Keep North Richland Hills Beautiful Commission of the City of North Richland Hills, Texas met for a meeting on the 18t" day of June 2024 at 5.45 p.m. in the Community Room at City Hall. A. CALL TO ORDER Kathy Luppy called the meeting to order at 5.45 p.m. Present: Kathy Luppy Chair Donah Tyner Place 1 Steve Chaney Place 2 Brianne Goetz Place 3 Kathleen Kaiser Place 4 Turquoise Banks Place 5 Bill Whitsett Place 7 Absent: Steve Linford Alternate Staff Members: Kristin James, Assistant Director of Neighborhood Services B. PUPLIC COMMENTS No citizens present for Public Comment. C. ACTION ITEMS CA Approve minutes of the April 16, 2024 Keep NRH Beautiful Meeting. Brianne Goetz motioned to approve the minutes and the motion was seconded by Bill Whitsett. The Commission then approved the minutes unanimously. D. PRESENTATION/DISCUSSION ITEMS DA Keep NRH Beautiful Overview and History Chair Luppy called on Mrs. James to present a PowerPoint presentation regarding Keep NRH Beautiful and its mission, goals, and activities. Chair Luppy then discussed some of the activities that the Commission had participated in the past, including the Governor's Community Achievement Award, Keep Texas Beautiful, Keep America Beautiful, Enviro Camp, Recycle Days, tree giveaways, etc. Page 1 of 2 D.2 Discuss Classes and Schedule for 2024 Mrs. James presented the following schedule to the Commission: Edible Landscapes Virtual Class — Thursday, June 20 @ 6pm KTB Conference (Virtual) — June 24 — June 26 Camp NRH Class — Monday, June 24 Camp NRH Class — Monday, July 15 KNRHB Meeting — Tuesday, July 16 DIY Sprinkler Repair Class — Thursday, July 25 @ 6pm at City Hall in the Community Room KNRHB Meeting — Tuesday, August 20 KNRHB Meeting — Tuesday, September 17 Trash Bash — Saturday, October 5 Backyard Chickens Class — Thursday, October 10 @ 5.30 pm at the Library KNRHB Meeting — Tuesday, October 15 KNRHB Meeting — No November Meeting Unless Needed Christmas Light Judging — Sunday, December 8 Christmas Light Judging — Monday, December 9 (if needed) More classes will be scheduled in the fall in conjunction with the Library. GENERAL DESCRIPTION: Appointments to boards and commissions are made annually in June and July and the terms coincide with the Council member who made the appointment. Places 1, 3, 5, 7 expire in odd number years and Places 2, 4, 6 and Mayor appointments expire in even numbered years unless otherwise noted by ordinance. Two new members were appointed to the Keep NRH Beautiful Commission in July 2024 and this item is to welcome the new members to the Commission and also give them an overview of what KNRHB is tasked by City Council to achieve annually. GENERAL DESCRIPTION: Keep NRH Beautiful provides classes, volunteer opportunities and activities throughout the year. This item allows for the Commission to discuss the upcoming schedule of events and activities.
