PRESENTER: Cecilia Barham, Library Director SUMMARY: The minutes listed are approved by majority vote of the Library Board members at Library Board meetings. GENERAL DESCRIPTION: The Library office prepares action minutes for each Library Board meeting. The minutes for the previous meeting are placed on the agenda for review and approval by the Library Board. Upon approval of the minutes, an electronic copy will be uploaded to the City's website. RECOMMENDATION: Approve minutes of the May 30, 2024 Library Board meeting. MINUTES OF THE LIBRARY BOARD OF THE CITY OF NORTH RICHLAND HILLS, TEXAS HELD IN THE LIBRARY BOARD ROOM LOCATED AT 9015 GRAND AVENUE May 30, 2024 Board Participants: Pam Donahoo Board Member, Place 2 Robert Breneman Board Member, Place 5 Jerry Sorenson Board Member, Place 7 Margaret Nilz Board Member, Alternate Absent: Don Tipps Chair, Place 1 Kathy Antropik Board Member, Place 3 Holly Mitchell Board Member, Place 4 Staff Participants: Cecilia Barham Library Director Courtney Kincaid Assistant Library Director Cathy McNeely Administrative Secretary Monica Phillips Children's Services Supervisor CALL TO ORDER Acting Chair Jerry Sorenson called the meeting to order on May 30, 2024, at 5:59 pm. PUBLIC COMMENTS There were no public comments in this meeting. APPROVAL OF MINUTES Mr. Breneman moved to accept the minutes, Ms. Donahoo seconded, and the minutes were unanimously approved. LIBRARY STAFF INTRODUCTION Ms. Barham introduced part time Library Associates Megan Janky and Chinonso Oguh, both in the Circulation department, who briefly talked about their roles and answered questions from the board. LIBRARY FURNITURE PURCHASE UPDATE Ms. Barham informed that the purchase is 40,000 under budget and the furniture delivery is planned for November. LIBRARY DIRECTOR'S REPORTS Ms. Barham reviewed the Library's statistics from April 2024 and answered questions. REPORT ON PROGRAMS AND EVENTS Ms. Barham reported on past Library events: • Homeschool Science on 5/3 at 10:00am: 73 people participated. • Behind the Book TX Edition with author Marjorie Herrera Lewis on 5/16 at 1:00pm: 73 people attended. And upcoming Library events including: • 2024 Mayor's Summer Reading Club kick off party on 6/1 at 10:00am. This year the Library will offer 115 programs for all ages. PERSONNEL UPDATE Cathy McNeely was promoted to full time Library Clerk in the Tech Services department. NEXT MEETING DATE Ms. Donahoo moved to bypass the meetings in June-July, Mr. Breneman seconded, and all members unanimously approved. The next meeting will be held on August 15, 2024, at 6:00pm. To ensure notary availability in advance, please call 817-427-6814 or complete the RequestfForm`'at URL HERE 4 Available hours are generally 10:00 AM-4:00 PM Monday through Thursday. Notary Service Requirements ,x • All signers, including minor children, will need to bring a valid photo ID. Valid photo ID's include passports, driver's licenses, state-issued IDs, and military IDs. • Documents to be notarized must be signed in front:of the Notary. Please do not sign them beforehand as these will not be notarized. • Any copies that need notarized must be made by the Notary.:Please do not bring in copies already made. • All people signing the document(s) must be physically present to have their signature notarized. • Please provide your own witnesses should they be required for your document(s). Solicitation of library patrons to be witnesses is not permitted. • You may be asked to seek legal advice before your documents can be notarized. No one in the library can give legal advice, including the Notary. • Notary services are fee-based.
