Tuesday, September 17, 2024 Keep NRH Beautiful Commission Agenda Page 2 of 2 MINUTES OF THE REGULAR MEETING OF THE KEEP NORTH RICHLAND HILLS BEAUTIFUL COMMISSION FOR THE CITY OF NORTH RICHLAND HILLS, TEXAS, HELD AT THE NORTH RICHLAND HILLS CITY HALL 4301 CITY POINT DRIVE TUESDAY, JULY 16, 2024 The Keep North Richland Hills Beautiful Commission of the City of North Richland Hills, Texas met for a meeting on the 16t" day of July 2024 at 5.45 p.m. in the Community Room at City Hall. A. CALL TO ORDER The meeting was called to order at 5.45 p.m. Present: Donah Tyner Place 1 Byron Bradford Place 2 Brianne Goetz Place 3 Traci Maze Place 4 Turquoise Banks Place 5 Bill Whitsett Place 7 Mark Seay Alternate Absent: Kathy Luppy Chair Staff Members: Kristin James, Assistant Director of Neighborhood Services B. PUPLIC COMMENTS No citizens present for Public Comment. C. ACTION ITEMS CA Approve minutes of the June 18, 2024 Keep NRH Beautiful Meeting. Bill Whitsett motioned to approve the minutes and the motion was seconded by Donah Tyner. The Commission then approved the minutes unanimously. D. PRESENTATION/DISCUSSION ITEMS DA Welcome New Members to the Keep NRH Beautiful Commission Kristin James welcomed the Keep NRH Beautiful Commission members to the first meeting of the year. The meeting kicked off with each commission member introducing themselves and sharing a little bit of background information about how they became involved in KNRHB. After introductions, Kristin James went through a PowerPoint presentation that included information about the Neighborhood Services Department under which KNRHB falls, and overview of KNRHB, what the purpose of KNRHB is, KNRHB's major affiliations Page 1 of 2 (Keep Texas Beautiful and Keep America Beautiful), information about awards and recognitions, and the commissions programs and events. After the presentation, the floor was open for questions. Mrs. James also asked that any long-standing members that had any information to add to please do so. Upon completion of this discussion a video message was played from KNRHB Chair, Kathy Luppy, welcoming the new members to the commission. Chair Luppy was unable to make the meeting in person. D.2 Discuss Classes and Schedule for 2024 Mrs. James presented the following schedule to the Commission: DIY Sprinkler Repair Class — Thursday, July 25 @ 6pm at City Hall in the Community Room Open Application for Jump Start Your Garden Grant — Monday, August 19 KNRHB Meeting — Tuesday, August 20 KNRHB Meeting — Tuesday, September 17 Trash Bash — Saturday, October 5 Backyard Chickens Class — Thursday, October 10 @ 5.30 pm at the Library KNRHB Meeting — Tuesday, October 15 KNRHB Meeting — No November Meeting Unless Needed Christmas Light Judging — Sunday, December 8 Christmas Light Judging — Monday, December 9 (if needed) Open Application for KNRHB Scholarship — Monday, January 6 Mrs. James also will investigate doing a Texas Arbor Days event in November and a few school events such as Polar Bash and the event at Foster Village for Thanksgiving. PRESENTER: Kristin James, Assistant Director of Neighborhood Services SUMMARY: This item is to appoint a chairperson to run the meetings of the Keep NRH Beautiful Commission and a vice chairperson should the chairperson be absent. GENERAL DESCRIPTION: Meetings of the Keep NRH Beautiful Commission are run by a chairperson and should that Chairperson be absent then a Vice Chairperson runs the meetings. This item allows for the appointment by the Commission members to appoint both positions. This item is to provide information regarding registrations, as well as discuss the logistics of the event. This item allows for the Commission to discuss the upcoming schedule of events and activities.
