GENERAL DESCRIPTION: The Neighborhood Services Department prepares action minutes for each Keep NRH Beautiful meeting. The minutes for the previous meeting are placed on the agenda for review and approval by the Keep NRH Beautiful Commission. Upon approval of the minutes, an electronic copy will be uploaded to the City's website. RECOMMENDATION: Approve the minutes of the September 17, 2024 Keep NRH Beautiful meeting. MINUTES OF THE REGULAR MEETING OF THE KEEP NORTH RICHLAND HILLS BEAUTIFUL COMMISSION FOR THE CITY OF NORTH RICHLAND HILLS, TEXAS, HELD AT THE NORTH RICHLAND HILLS CITY HALL 4301 CITY POINT DRIVE TUESDAY, SEPTEMBER 17, 2024 The Keep North Richland Hills Beautiful Commission of the City of North Richland Hills, Texas met for a meeting on the 17t" day of September 2024 at 5.45 p.m. in the Community Room at City Hall. A. CALL TO ORDER The meeting was called to order at 5.45 p.m. Present: Kathy Luppy Chair Donah Tyner Place 1 Byron Bradford Place 2 Brianne Goetz Place 3 Mark Seay Place 4 Traci Maze Alternate Absent: Turquoise Banks Place 5 Bill Whitsett Place 7 Staff Members: Kristin James, Assistant Director of Neighborhood Services B. PUPLIC COMMENTS No citizens present for Public Comment. C. ACTION ITEMS CA Approve minutes of the July 16, 2024, Keep NRH Beautiful Meeting. Brianne Goetz motioned to approve the minutes, and the motion was seconded by Donah Tyner. The Commission then approved the minutes unanimously. C.2 Appoint a Chairperson and Vice Chairperson of the Keep NRH Beautiful Commission Donah Tyner motioned to appoint Kathy Luppy as Chairperson of the Keep NRH Beautiful Commission. Brianne Goetz seconded the motion, and the Commission unanimously approved Mrs. Luppy's appointment as Chairperson to the Keep NRH Beautiful Commission. Traci Maze nominated Brianne Goetz as Vice Chairperson of the Keep NRH Beautiful Commission. Donah Tyner seconded the motion, and the Commission unanimously Page 1 of 2 approved Mrs. Goetz appointment as Vice Chairperson to the Keep NRH Beautiful Commission. D. PRESENTATION/DISCUSSION ITEMS D.1 Discuss the 2024 Trash Bash Kristin James started by reminding the Commission that the Trash Bash is scheduled for Saturday, October 5, 2024. She asked that members be at NRH2O between 7.30 am and 8.00 am to start setting up for supply pick-up which will occur between 8.30 am and 9.30 am. She reported that there were currently 166 people registered for the event and that she expected to be at around 200 registrations by the day of the event. A little less than last year's number, but still good. For the picnic, Chick Fil A located at Rufe Snow and 820 will be providing 150 chicken sandwiches. Mrs. James will be purchasing chips, cookies, water and Gatorade to accompany the sandwiches. After supply pickup, members will be assigned to take photos of volunteers out in the field, set up for the picnic, and tally the number of trash bags as they come in. There will be jobs for everyone. D.2 Discuss Classes and Schedule for 2024 Mrs. James presented the following schedule to the Commission: Pollinator Class — Thursday, September26 @ 3.30 pm at North Ridge Elementary Gardening Club National Night Out (Not KNRHB) — Various Neighborhoods during the evening hours Trash Bash — Saturday, October 5 Backyard Chickens Class — Thursday, October 10 @ 5.30 pm at the Library KNRHB Meeting — Tuesday, October 15 Fix It Blitz (Volunteer Opportunity-Not KNRHB) — Saturday, October 19 — rn�rn w.ireirlh x.cor�r1/ireli ............................................................................................................................... NRH Shred Day (Not KNRHB) — Saturday, November 2 @ 9.00 am at BISD Plaza (First come first served, until trucks are full) KNRHB Meeting — No November Meeting Unless Needed Christmas Light Judging — Sunday, December 8 Christmas Light Judging — Monday, December 9 (if needed) Open Application for KNRHB Scholarship — Monday, January 6 We will investigate doing a Texas Arbor Days event in November and a few school events such as Polar Bash and the event at Foster Village for Thanksgiving. GENERAL DESCRIPTION: The Keep NRH Beautiful Commission's 2024 Trash Bash Litter Cleanup was held on Saturday, October 5, 2024. This item is to discuss the results of the Trash Bash and also talk about what went well and what we might want to change in 2025. GENERAL DESCRIPTION: The KNRHB Commission created the Jump Start Your Garden Grant Program in 2024 and provides grants to NRH schools to upgrade their school gardens. This item allows for the judging of the applications that were submitted for this year's program. GENERAL DESCRIPTION: This item allows for the discussion of the commission's current school programs, as well as ideas for ways the commission can get more involved in environmental education within NRH schools. GENERAL DESCRIPTION: Keep NRH Beautiful provides classes, volunteer opportunities and activities throughout the year. This item allows for the Commission to discuss the upcoming schedule of events and activities.
