PRESENTER: Cecilia Barham, Library Director GENERAL DESCRIPTION: The Library Board will elect a Chair to preside the Library Board meetings, appoint special committees as needed, and authorize calls for special meetings. The Library Board will also elect a Vice Chair to assume these duties in the absence of the Chair. RECOMMENDATION: Elect Board Chair and Vice Chair. k4RH NORTH RICHLAND HILLS LIBRARY MEMORANDUM FROM: The Office of the Library Director DATE: January 16, 2025 SUBJECT: Approve minutes of the November 21, 2024 regular Library Board meeting. PRESENTER: Cecilia Barham, Library Director SUMMARY: The minutes listed are approved by majority vote of the Library Board members at Library Board meetings. GENERAL DESCRIPTION: The Library office prepares action minutes for each Library Board meeting. The minutes for the previous meeting are placed on the agenda for review and approval by the Library Board. Upon approval of the minutes, an electronic copy will be uploaded to the City's website. RECOMMENDATION: Approve minutes of the November 21, 2024 regular Library Board meeting. MINUTES OF THE LIBRARY BOARD OF THE CITY OF NORTH RICHLAND HILLS, TEXAS HELD IN THE LIBRARY BOARD ROOM LOCATED AT 9015 GRAND AVENUE November 21, 2024 Board Participants: Kathy Antropik Board Member, Place 3 Robert Breneman Board Member, Place 5 Deborah Smith Board Member, Place 6 Stacy Herron Board Member, Place 7 Erin Rodriguez Board Member, Alternate Absent: Don Tipps Chair, Place 1 Holly Mitchell Board Member, Place 2 Lisa Martinez Board Member, Place 4 Staff Participants: Cecilia Barham Library Director Cathy McNeely Library Clerk CALL TO ORDER Library Director Cecilia Barham called the meeting to order on November 21, 2024, at 6.01 pm, and asked the board to appoint a member to chair the remainder of the meeting as the Chairman was not present. Mr. Breneman motioned to appoint Ms. Rodriguez, Ms. Smith seconded, and all unanimously agreed. PUBLIC COMMENTS There were no public comments in this meeting. APPROVAL OF MINUTES Mr. Breneman moved to accept the minutes, Ms. Smith seconded, and the minutes were unanimously approved. INTRODUCTION OF NEW BOARD MEMBER Ms. Barham introduced newly appointed Library Board member Stacy Herron, who briefly talked about herself and met the other members and library staff. LIBRARY FURNITURE INSTALLATION UPDATE Ms. Barham informed that the first vendor has delivered part of the new furniture, one vendor is scheduled to deliver between 12/9-12/13, and two in January 2025 . LIBRARY DIRECTOR'S REPORTS Ms. Barham reviewed the Library's statistics from September-October 2024 and answered questions. The Library Director also announced that the Library has a new digital resource since September named Boundless. REPORT ON PROGRAMS AND EVENTS Ms. Barham reported on past Library events: • Mad Hatter's Tea Party on 10/12 from 1:00-3:OOpm: 275 people participated. • Homeschool Science on 11/1 at 11:00am: 85 people participated. And upcoming Library events including: • Winter Reading Challenge starting on 12/1-12/31. • NHR Christmas Tree Lighting event on 12/5 from 6:00-9:OOpm. • Uptown Carolers performance on 12/10 at 6:OOpm. • Stories with Santa on 12/11 at 4:OOpm. PERSONNEL UPDATE Avery Zamora is the new part time Library Associate in the Circulation department, and Demi Trudgett the new part time Librarian in the Reference department. One full time clerical position in the Circulation department will be posted. NEXT MEETING DATE The next meeting will be held on January 16, 2025 at 6:OOpm. ADJOURNMENT Meeting adjourned at 6:30pm.
