HomeMy WebLinkAboutKNRH 2024-10-15 Minutes MINUTES OF THE REGULAR MEETING OF THE KEEP NORTH RICHLAND HILLS BEAUTIFUL COMMISSION FOR THE CITY OF NORTH RICHLAND HILLS, TEXAS, HELD AT THE NORTH RICHLAND HILLS CITY HALL 4301 CITY POINT DRIVE TUESDAY, OCTOBER 15, 2024 The Keep North Richland Hills Beautiful Commission of the City of North Richland Hills, Texas met for a meeting on the 15th day of October 2024 at 5:45 p.m. in the Community Room at City Hall. A. CALL TO ORDER The meeting was called to order at 5:58 p.m. Present: Kathy Luppy Chair Donah Tyner Place 1 Brianne Goetz Place 3 Mark Seay Place 4 Bill Whitsett Place 7 Absent: Byron Bradford Place 2 Turquoise Banks Place 5 Traci Maze Alternate Staff Members: Kristin James, Assistant Director of Neighborhood Services B. PUPLIC COMMENTS No citizens present for Public Comment. C. ACTION ITEMS C.1 Approve minutes of the September 17, 2024, Keep NRH Beautiful Meeting. Bill Whitsett motioned to approve the minutes, and the motion was seconded by Donah Tyner. The Commission then approved the minutes unanimously. D. PRESENTATION/DISCUSSION ITEMS D.1 Discuss the Results of the 2024 Trash Bash Page 1 of 2 Kristin James reported that the Trash Bash went well. There was a total of 187 volunteers at the event and approximately 3,000 pounds of trash was collected during the event. She then played for the committee the recap videos that were created for the event. C.2 Judge the Jumps Start Your Garden Grant Program Applications Kristin James handed out a packet of all the applications received by the Commission. Chair Luppy asked that the commission take 15 minutes to review each application. After the Commission took the time to read over each application, they came back together to discuss each of them. The Commission agreed that Holiday Heights Elementary School, North Ridge Elementary School and Walker Creek Elementary School were the 2024 winners for the Jump Start Your Garden Grant. C.3 Discuss the KNRHB School Programming Mrs. James reported that there were a few upcoming school functions that the Commission had signed up for in the upcoming weeks. The commission discussed the activities they would be doing at each, including — Thankful Turkeys, Recycle Relay, reading, and the Trash Wheel. D.2 Discuss Classes and Schedule for 2024 Mrs. James presented the following schedule to the Commission: Landscape Design Basics — Thursday, October 17 @ 5:30 pm at NRH Library Fix It Blitz (Volunteer Opportunity-Not KNRHB) — Saturday, October 19 Foster Village Trunk or Treat— Monday, October 28 NRH Shred Day (Not KNRHB) — Saturday, November 2 @ 9:00 am at BISD Plaza (First come first served, until trucks are full) Snow Heights Polar Bash — Saturday, November 9 Walker Creek Thanksgiving Program — Friday, November 15 KNRHB Meeting — No November Meeting Unless Needed Foster Village Thanksgiving Program —Friday, November 22 Christmas Light Judging — Sunday, December 8 Christmas Light Judging — Monday, December 9 (if needed) Open Application for KNRHB Scholarship — Monday, January 6 E.
