CALL TO ORDER Director Stefanie Martinez called the meeting to order on VVedneeday. December 18. 2024. atO0:O1 a.m. ROLL CALL Present: Suzy Compton Council Member Stefanie Martinez DinSntor, Neighborhood Services Edward Cruz Board Member, TACA Absent: Dr. F(ueoe|| Johnson, [}VM Veterinarian Staff: Keane Menefee Animal Services Manager B. PUBLIC COMMENTS An opportunity for citizens to address the Animal Adoption and Rescue Center Advisory Committee on matters which are scheduled on this agenda for consideration by the Conomittee, but not scheduled as o Public hearing. In order to address the Animal Adoption and Rescue Center Advisory Committee during public comments, a Public Meeting Appearance Cord nnuai be completed and presented to the recording secretary prior to the . start of the Animal Adoption and Rescue Center Advisory Committee meeting. No citizens present requesting the opportunity to address the Animal Adoption and Rescue Center Advisory Committee. C. ACTION ITEMS Committee member Suzy Compton moved to approve the minutes for the September 25, 2024' Animal Adoption @ Rescue Center Advisory Committee meeting. Committee noarnber Edward Cruz seconded the motion. Motion to approve carried 3 - O. D. DEPARTMENT REPORTS [}.1 Fiscal Year3O24 divisional statistics for shelter, fie|d, volunteer and veterinarian services. Manager Menefee provided the Committee with e divisional etaheUom report for the current fieoo| year2024. outlining October 2O23—September 2U24. Mr. Menefee advised the Committee that the division saw comparable positive trends to past fiscal years. D.2 Special events- (1) Clear the Shelters, (2) Doggie Beach Bash, (3) Low-Cost Vaccination Clinics Manager Menefee advised the Committee that there were 92 adoptions for the month-long Clear the Shelters event. He stated that Doggie Beach Bash was conducted on Sunday, September 29, 2024, at NRH2O, and there were 1,218 dog owners, 846 dogs, and the event raised $12,664. Manager Menefee provided the final low-cost clinic results for the fiscal year. The January 13t" clinic vaccinated 79 animals, the April 13t" clinic vaccinated 131 animals, the July 13th clinic vaccinated 147 animals, and the October 12t" clinic vaccinated 135 animals. D.3 Current staffing levels Manager Menefee advised the committee that there was one animal services officer vacant position, due to Jaialyn Gasaway-Strickland being terminated. E. DISCUSSION ITEMS EA City pet license program effectiveness and efficiency Manager Menefee provided information to the committee concerning the effectiveness and efficiency of the current city pet license program. He stated that during FY24, 10 dogs and cats, of the 1,246 dogs and cats that were impounded, had a current city license tag on their collar, Manager Menefee stated that only 1,866 animals were licensed during FY24, but the division mailed 2,285 renewal notices. The revenue collected for city licenses during FY24 was $12,119 and the estimated costs of the program was $22,394, with a shortfall of $10,275. The committee recommended that the city remove, by ordinance, the section requiring animals to be licensed through the city. F. ADJOURNMENT Councilmember Suzy Compton moved to adjourn the Animal Adoption & Rescue Center Advisory Committee meeting. TACA Board Member Edward Cruz seconded the motion. Motion to approve carried 3 - 0.
