PRESENTER: Cecilia Barham, Library Director SUMMARY: The minutes listed are approved by majority vote of the Library Board members at Library Board meetings. GENERAL DESCRIPTION: The Library office prepares action minutes for each Library Board meeting. The minutes for the previous meeting are placed on the agenda for review and approval by the Library Board. Upon approval of the minutes, an electronic copy will be uploaded to the City's website. RECOMMENDATION: Approve the minutes of the May 21, 2026 regular Library Board meeting. PUBLIC COMMENTS This meeting had no public comments. APPROVAL OF MINUTES Ms. Herron moved to accept the minutes, Mr. Chambers seconded, and the minutes were unanimously approved. LIBRARY DIRECTOR'S REPORT Ms. Barham reviewed the library's key performance indicators from April 2026 and answered questions. REPORT ON PROGRAMS AND EVENTS Ms. Barham reported on past Library events: • Behind the Book with author Yangsze Choo on 5/5 at 1:OOpm: 56 people attended. • Free Comic Book Day on 5/9 at 10.00am: 254 people participated. • Library in the Park on 5/19 at 10:30: 62 people attended. • Literacy Night and Andy's Frozen Custard Anniversary outreach events on 5/12: 323 people attended. And upcoming events, including: • Mayor's Summer Reading Club Kick-off party on 5/30 from 10:00am-12:OOpm. • Mahjong Club, new Adult Services program starting on 6/8 on 2nd and 4t" Mondays from 10:00am-12:OOpm. FRIENDS OF THE LIBRARY BOARD MEMBERS INTRODUCTION Ms. Barham introduced the Friends of the Library (FOL) board members Allison Mull, Pam Donahoo, Krina Traywick, and Glenn Weissinger. Ms. Mull, FOL president, talked about group advocacy and support to the Library. Ms. Donahoo discussed infrastructure, change and modernization/new FOL social media account. Mr. Weissinger gave an overview of the FOL strategic plan and initiatives, fundraising, operational processes, and proactive campaign to support the Library. Lastly, Ms. Traywick talked about financial management and projects funded by the organization. They answered questions from the library board members invited everyone to the FOL Annual Meeting event on 5/28 at 6:30pm. PERSONNEL UPDATE Kasey Coulson is the new part time Library Associate in the Circulation department. NEXT MEETING DATE The next meeting will be held on August 20, 2026 at 6:OOpm. Because this month is outside the regular schedule outlined in the Library Board bylaws, a vote was required to officially approve it. Mr. Chambers motioned, Ms. Mitchell seconded, and the date was unanimously approved. ADJOURNMENT Meeting adjourned at 6:54 pm.
