HomeMy WebLinkAboutOrdinance 0338 ",.- · · · . - . , ~ ~ ORDINANCE NO. 338 AN ORDINANCE ESTABLISHING A REWARD FOR INFOR- MATION LEADING TO THE ARREST AND CONVICTION OF ARSONIST, OTHER RELATED MATTERS, REPEAL- ING PRIOR ORDINANCE NUMBER 334, AND DECLARING AN EMERGENCY. WHEREAS, the City Council of the City of North Richland Hills feels that the crime of arson has become a serious offense in said City; and WHEREAS, the City Council of said City feels that a reward for information leading to the arrest and conviction of an arsonist would be to the benefit of the City and people in this community. BE IT THEREFORE ORDAINED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF NORTH RICHLAND HILLS, TEXAS, THAT: The City of North Richland Hills, Texas, hereby offers a reward of TWO HUNDRED AND FIFTY DOLLARS ($250.00) for the arrest and conviction of any person or persons found guilty of committing the crime of ARSON within the corporate limits of said City of North Richland Hills, Texas. This reward is a standing offer, and shall be paid out of the Reserve for Contingency Fund of the City of North Richland Hills, Texas. The City of North Richland Hills shall place in wooden frames under glass, placards eight inches by twelve inches in size showing the above reward is offered in at least twel ve different public buildings with a ~ · · · ~ " list of such buildings where the placards have been posted being furnished to the State Board of Insurance in Austin, Texas. This Ordinance hereby repeals Ordinance Number 334 and any others that may conflict with this Ordinance. Since the City of North Richland Hills, Texas, does not have at this time an arson reward as described above, and this crime has become a serious crime within this City, an emergency has arisen for this Ordinance and said Ordinance will be for the good and general welfare of the citizens of North Richland Hills, the City Council here- by declares an emergency and suspends all rules providing for more than one reading and this Ordinance will become effective immediately upon passage by said Council.
