Home My WebLink AboutOrdinance 0173 --~---_·_~··_"_.__,.._,_w......~...__"."~_...__.,.._.~._"_.,~"._.~_~~.._ ORDINANCE NO. 173 AN ORDINANCE PROVIDING FOR THE LEVY AND COLLECTION OF AN ANNUAL DIRECT AD VALOREM TAX ON ALL PROPERTY, REAL, PERSONAL AND MIXED, SITUATED IN THE TERRITORIAL LIMITS OF THE CITY OF NORTH RICHLAND HILLS, AND ALL PERSONAL PROPERTY OWNED IN SAID CITY OF NORTH RICHLAND HILLS ON THE FIRST DAY OF JANUARY, A.D., 1967, EXCEPT SUCH PROPERTY AS MAY BE EXEMPT FROM TAXATION BY THE CONSTITUTION AND LAWS OF THE STATE OF TEXAS. BE IT ORDAINED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF NORTH RICHLAND HI LLS, TEXAS: SECTION I There is hereby levied and there shall be collected as provided by law, an annual direct special ad valorem tax for the year 1967-68, for General Fund operations of Seventy Cents (0.70) on every One Hundred Do¡lar ($100.00) valuation on all property, real, personal and mixed, situated in and all personal property owned in the City of North Richland Hills, Texas, on the first day of January, A.D. 1967, liable under the law to taxation and not exempt therefrom by the Constitution and laws of the State of Texas. SECTION II The ad valorem taxes herein levied and authorized and required or be collected shall be and become due and payable on the first day of October, A.D. 1967. SECTION III The ad valorem taxes herein levied and authorized and required to be collected shall become delinquent on the first day of February, A.D. 1968. SECTION IV Should any taxpayer permit his taxes to become delinquent that is to say, should fail or refuse to pay his taxes then and in that event, a penalty shall attach to the payment of such taxes at the rate of one and one half per cent (l~~) per month or fraction thereof, for each month thereafter. SECTION V Said penalty of one and one half per cent (l~)' per month shall be added to said taxes in the event the payment thereof sàall become delinquent as above set forth and said penalty shall attach on the first day of each month thereafter, , '--_.~"..._'-_.,_.._.._"""...~,~-~-..--~--"'._-,~.. Page 2 Ordinance 173 until the taxes shall have been paid, which penalty shall be and become a part of said taxes and be payable as SUCh1 and provided further that in the event of the publication of the legal delinquent list1 or if such is brought to recover such taxes and penalties and the delinquent taxpayer shall be sub- ject to the payment of said taxes, penalties and costs, and the same shall be and become a lien upon the property of such tax- payer, as prescribed by the laws of the State of Texas, the said taxes with penalties and lien upon the property of such' taxpayer, as prescribed by the laws of the State of Texas, the said taxes with penalties and costs shall be and become and there are hereby made a paramount lien ~o all other liens whatsoever on the property on'which said taxes are lèvie4. SECTION VI Should any part, portion, section or part of a section of this ordinance be declared invalid or inoperative or void for any reason by a court of competent jurisdiction, such decision, opinion or judgment shall ~n no way affect the remaining portions, parts, sections or parts of sections of this ordinance, which provision shall remain and continue to be in full force and effect.
