RECONSIDER- Mayor Brown advised his intention was to let

Mayor Brown and Delores Pultz, Beautification Commission Chairman, presented the
following "Yard of the Month" awards: Nancy Riddle, 6308 Glenview; Edna & Stephen
Lane, 6700 Riviera; Linda and Russ Bowen, 5645 Bogota; Marie and Charles Worrell,
7216 Green Meadow Drive; Lydia and Russell Helge, 8201 Jerrie Jo; Cheryl and Paul
Wiest, 7666 Moss Court; Sandra and John Oliver, 8955 Boca Raton Court; Janie and
George Horn, 6050 Circleview Drive; and Glenn and Linda Willis, 7820 Arthur.

PRESENTATION OF "LANDSCAPE OF THE MONTH" AWARD
Mayor Brown and Delores Pultz, Beautification Commission Chairman, presented the
"Landscape of the Month" award to HCA North Hills Medical Center, 4401 Booth
Calloway.

GN 93-86 RECONSIDERATION OF GREEN VALLEY SOCCER COMPLEX
APPROVED
Mayor Brown advised this was not a public hearing. Several meetings had been held
with the City Staff and residents of the area.
Ms. Terri Mace, 7506 Aubrey Lane, appeared before the Council. Ms. Mace stated she
had been involved with the project since it began. Ms. Mace felt the residents of other
areas should not be involved in the development of the park. Ms. Mace felt that the
proposed site was not appropriate for the area. If the project was put to a public vote it
would fail.
Mayor Brown called for a vote on the Neighborhood Plan.
Motion failed 5-2; Mayor Pro Tern Welch, Councilwomen Spurlock and Johnson, and
Councilmen Wood and Oujesky voting against, and Councilmen Garvin and Sibbet
voting for.
Councilwoman Johnson moved, seconded by Mayor Pro Tern Welch, to approve Concept
Plan 3/3A.
Councilwoman Johnson expressed her appreciation to the citizens for their concern and
to the Park and Recreation Board members for their time spent working on the project.
Councilman Oujesky advised he felt a difficult issue was being resolved. He supported
soccer, but did not support the proposed plan.
Councilman Garvin advised the plan was subject to change. He felt the Neighborhood
Plan was a good plan. He would support a motion to move to another site.
Mayor Pro Tern Welch advised he had said if a compromise would not be reached he
would make a motion to sell the property. He will support the motion to approve
Concept Plan 3/3A.
Councilman Sibbet advised he supported soccer, but felt the proposed site was not the
right place for the complex.
Motion to approve Concept Plan 3/3A carried 4-3; Mayor Pro Tem Welch,
Councilwomen Johnson and Spurlock and Councilman Wood voting for and Councilmen
Garvin, Sibbet and Oujesky voting against.
