HomeMy WebLinkAboutResolution 1990-024 RESOLUTION NO. 90-24 WHEREAS, an Election was duly held in the City of North Richland Hills, Texas, on the 5th day of May, 1990 to elect the Mayor and Council Places 2, 4, and 6 and Municipal Judge and to consider amending the first sentence of Section 7 (1) of Article VI of the City Charter of the City of North Richland Hills, Texas; and WHEREAS, the Mayor and City Council duly canvassed the votes of said election on this the 7th day of May, 1990; and WHEREAS, the canvass showed the following results: Candidates Office Total Tommy Brown Russ Mitchell Mayor 931 433 930 919 926 803 385 Mack Garvin Council Pl ace 2 Frank Metts, Jr. Byron Sibbet Council Place 4 Council Place 6 Charles Thorn Steve Stomber Municipal Judge CHARTER AMENDMENT: For Aga i ns t 865 183 the following proposition: "The Municipal Court shall be presided over by a magistrate to be known as Municipal Judge who shall be an attorney duly licensed by the State of Texas who shall be a resident of the City of North Richland Hills; such Judge shall be elected for a two year term coinciding with the term of the Mayor and shall be elected by a majority vote at the City General Election." NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF NORTH RICHLAND HILLS, TEXAS, that: 1. The above canvass be and the same hereby is in all things approved. Resolution No. 90-24 Page 2 2. The Council finds that the following candidates should be declared elected to the office indicated: Offi ce Duly Elected Official Mayor Counci 1 Pl ace 2 Council Place 4 Council Pl ace 6 Municipal Judge Tommy Brown Mack Garvin Frank Metts, Jr. Byron Sibbet Charles Thorn 3. The Council finds that the following proposition carried by a majority vote: "The Municipal Court shall be presided over by a magistrate to be known as Municipal Judge who shall be an attorney duly licensed by the State of Texas who shall be a resident of the City of North Richland Hills; such Judge shall be elected for a two year term coinciding with the term of the Mayor and shall be elected by a majority vote of the City General Election." Such proposition is declared to have passed and hereafter replace the present language of the first sentence of Section 7 (1) of Article VI of the Charter of the City of North Richland Hills, Texas.
