With the success of the online virtual reference project, The Answer Zone, project coordinators are
planning to expand the hours of operation and explore adding additional libraries to the
project.
New Technical Services Supervisor Todd Humble will join the staff on April 22.

monthly core value award was for service to our citizens.

and will buy 50 stacking chairs for adult programming.
Plans for new carpet for the library's main reading room are on hold.

DISCUSS BUDGET PLANS FY2002-03 - Steve Brown
Line item and decision package requests are due to city administration the week of April 22. Due to
the city's financial picture, line item requests will be continuation of current funding adjusted for
inflation. Decision packages will include both full-time and part-time staffing position requests and a
second self-check unit.
REVIEW PLANS FOR USED BOOK SALE - Steve Brown
The annual book sale is scheduled for Saturday, April 20. Approximately 3,000 used volumes of

invited to help with the sale if their schedules permit.
UPDATE ON STATUS OF LIBRARY FACILITIES - Steve Brown
Hometown NRH homes are selling well and the TIF revenues are positive. Plans are to select an
architect for the new library by the end of summer with construction to start by 2003. City
administration is planning a bond package. The possibility of including funds for a branch library will
be evaluated. Mr. Brown reviewed comparison maps of NRH patron usage over a four-month period.
The maps plotted patterns of patron use over both the north and south side of the city.
The next scheduled board meeting will be May 16, 2002. This meeting adjourned at 8:10 p.m.
